Pain Control, Abortion and the States
The Washington Post declares that things will get better in terms of legal protection for physicians who prescribe unusually but in their view appropriately large doses of pain control, as a result of the recent court decision. The decision in the Oregon case has several effects, among them the affirmation of the priority of the states. The Post quotes all sorts of people who hold that this is a positive thing for clinicians. Maybe so. Certainly in Oregon. Probably not though in South Dakota. The same goes for abortion.
