The Reporters' Guide to the Stem Cell Vote

With a vote on stem cell research funding imminent in the Senate, terrified reporters from papers everywhere are reading AP wire summaries conducting research and gathering their materials for stories on what is happening, what is at stake and what comes next. The best summary of what is going on in the debate and impending vote was written by Al Tompkins for the Poynter Institute, "a Primer on the Stem Cell Debate," and it is a Cliffs Notes for the rest of us, with links to all of the predecessor bills, speeches, etc.

It would be nice if occasionally people distinguished two issues:
1) pro or con (or nuetral) regarding embryonic stem cell research
2) pro or con (or neutral) regarding public funding for embryonic stem cell research
There are a few of us, apparently too few to be of interest to partisan politicos (even those who call themselves bioethicists), who are pro SCR and con public funding of same.
