Oregon Reproductive Case

There are enough goof-ups, mistakes and twists and turns in this case to take up an entire course on ethics and reproductive technologies.

Well, that's a lovely screwup... but, is it just me, or does it seem like this is an exceedingly extreme reaction to take? It sounds like a communication breakdown occured, and now people are just reacting with lawsuits left and right. Would the donor be trying to sue for custody of a child he doesn't know existts or not if the woman and her husband simply acknowledged whether or not a child had been born? Would the woman have reacted so strongly to the donor if OHSU hadn't mishandled things?
I have a quote on my bulletin board, talking about how the only time things get to an ethics committee is when someone screwed up, somewhere. Seems like this is just one on top another.
